Students' Council held their first Spirit Day today at CCS. They called it "Dress as your Favourite Food Day". The objectives were:
1. Dress as your favourite food.
2. Bring that food in your lunch.
3. Bring a non-perishable (cherishable as some students said) food item for the Drayton Foodbank.
The kids costumes were very creative and we were able to bring 5 boxes of food to the foodbank. Great job, Students' Council, I can't wait to see what other great ideas you have in store for us.
The Cross Country team participated in their second meet last Friday. It was a difficult meet with many great participants, but our students had fun and everyone finished their race.
A word from Mrs. Vanderstoep:
Our class trip to Mapleton’s Organics was so much fun! We learned about the Life Cycle of a Pumpkin while sitting on straw bales in the barn, we saw many animals, we milked a cow, went on a hayride, picked a pumpkin, ate organic ice cream, walked through a cedar maze and played on a pirate ship. In the afternoon, we went to pumpkin centres which included making pumpkin muffins, pounding golf tees into a pumpkin, painting pumpkin gourds, science discovery – investigating the insides of a pumpkin, colouring pictures of the life cycle of a pumpkin and going to the pumpkin reading centre.
We had a great time worshiping together last Friday as we heard Miss. VandenHazel talk about the Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector. We're loving our para-bull skits and meeting as chapel groups. Can't wait for next month!
This is always a favourite Science activity - designing your own brand of soft drink. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to be there to taste test them all, but I'm sure they were all delicious.
JK/SK got an unexpected visit from a very big red dog yesterday!
